I update the site with numerous stories, photographs and lots of love and I get no response. Please send us some messages, we check this site every day, it defines our mood at work. I go in to work and don’t speak and my boss asks ‘No comments on the blog again Cam?’.
OK enough of my crap. Couple of exciting events coming up though. I am finally going to continental Europe; I fly to Prague next Friday, i’m very excited! Also, we have booked our tickets home for February, it’s going to be an amazing time, I can’t wait to see you all and party like never before. Also Fiona is pregnant and we got married in Vegas, nah i’m kidding, but post your comments feverishly like that is the case anyway. Love you lots xx.

The soccer is only being broadcast in 1 pub in the whole of London - what an outrage! Plus there is so much sport on this weekend involving England (Cricket starting Pakistan, Beating the Aussies at Rugby and the big Soccer game against Argentina tonight) that it would be futile to try and get into the Sports Bar that is showing the match. Trying to find a radio broadcast as we speak, but I imagine Soccer on the radio is highly boring. Nice work with the golf Mum! x

Day2 + Day3 + Day 5
November 3rd, 2005
UK, Scotland
Forgot in my last posting about this awesome zoo that we went to in the Cotswolds. There was an amazing number of animals in this place in the middle of nowhere, really strange. Everything from Camels, Rhinoceros, Zebra, Lions, Cheetahs and even Penguins which was crazy given the weather this place must have. You were basically in touching distance of all the animals; and that’s the story of how I lost my right hand in the Lion enclosure.
Day two of our Scottish trip and we actually made it to Scotland. We drove up to Edinburgh, which I had done earlier on in the year as you avid readers would know, but it’s an amazing city and Mum and Dad were keen to see it again or keen to please their golden child who wanted to see it. We drove through the town, stopped off at the Holyrood Castle and the new Parliament (sounds boring, but its a really cool building). Then Dad and I climbed up Edinburgh Mountain and I carried Dad back down, poor old boy. More driving, this time towards Stirling and towards our first night’s accomodation at MacKeanston house: a beautiful country farmhouse outside of Stirling where we feasted on a sumptuous 3-course organic fayre and patted the dogs (Hi Jess).
Day three we headed towards Carnoustie, not quite the home of golf, but very close to it and very cheap because we had reciprocal membership from our club in Melbourne. Strange old course, not amazing, but it’s on the British Open circuit; you might remember Jean Vandevelt taking off his shoes and socks back in 1999 British Open to play a ball he hit into the burn (trench of water), that is if you care about golf, which no doubt the majority of you don’t. The course wasn’t brilliant but walking around in the constant rain whacking around a little white ball is oddly calming especially given that we were the only people on the entire course, even shot a decent 90 having not played for the previous 12 months. We enjoyed a complimentary drink courtesy of the Carnoustie Captain on our return to the clubhouse; funny old traditional clubhouse resplendent with old golfers who by no means had the strength to walk around a golf course, but could tell endless tales about “the old days”.
Drenched we headed to Fife for our second night’s accomodation (Second night’s accomodation on our third day - I don’t know how that works either). It took what seemed to be an age to find the place, but eventually we found Troustrie house, another beautiful farmhouse in the middle of nowhere. That night we drank like the Scottish and ate fish pie because we were in a coastal town and the waiter stared at us funny if we started to order something else.
Day four (or something, i’ve lost count) we ventured into St Andrews to check out the home of golf and well that’s about it, no other reason to visit the place. It was at that time that Scotland unleashed its worst rains in 9 years, a sight to behold. After we fulfilled our quota of museums and cheesy grins in front of the golf tee-off areas, we drove back along the Forth of Firth coastline through Crail and through a hundred other towns that either I can’t remember or that weren’t very memorable. We returned to Stirling for some more happy snaps: a look at the castle and some other historical things that will disintegrate in the next few years and we will sell our photos of for a lot of money. That night we headed towards Hawick; news reports citing it as the most rain affected area of the country and a place that should be avoided by all travellers due to the river bursting its banks and major flooding ensuing.
Insert dodgy ending to a soapie that makes you want to tune in next week to find out what happens. More to come!

When is more coming - Hadrians Wall, Lakes District, more London touristing including dinner at docklands, Ipswich Town football (we’ve changed from soccer since Aust beat Uraguay!), Spitalfields, Hampstead Heath, Old Street trendy places, Mum at last gets to shop, we go to Lords and visit your work to make sure you really have a job,Serpentine Gallery (still trying to figure that one out!) a last Italian meal and then the emotional farewell - no wonder we slept for 2 weeks when we got home!!
