Pezzas + Forthcoming

Despite the might of my family’s ability to guilt trip me about not posting on here, I have managed to stave off their attacks for a whole month - congratulations me. It wasn’t easy though, when Dad was over here he told me he checked the site at 7:30am every morning; fanatical but moving. So I have some motivation to get this site back on the tracks, no doubt this will not eventuate however, but at least I have acknowledged my guilt. Admission means a lot.

We’ve been a busy bunch here in Wandsworth Town. Obviously the big news was my parents stay through October. We had the most amazing time, it couldn’t have gone any better. Of course I was late getting to the airport and totally killed the suspense of their arrival; we didn’t even shed any tears as expected. (Side note: I have an adoration for semi-colons. Something about the impact of a full-stop and the curiosity of a comma.) Mum charged at me like a bull when we first made eye contact, it was then I realised that I shouldn’t have worn a red jumper to the airport. I have to admit the whole holiday was surreal, it was impossible to comprehend that Mum and Dad were here with me in London. For the first couple of days Mum and Dad basically stared at me the whole time; a scary thing when Dad was driving. We did a number of touristy things: walked through Hyde Park, got lost in Kensington, went on the London Eye, saw the Frida Kahlo exhibition at the Tate Modern and went for dinner in SOHO: and that was just the first day. I had a mission to cram as much stuff in as possible. Pretty rare thing, having your parents in London (OK i’m just reminded now as I type about how much fun we had, excuse me for being so verbose…and for using the word verbose).

Day two we descended on Borough Market where Jamie Oliver sources his ingredients and stocked ourselves up with some delicacies for lunch. Cousin Chris joined us for a few bottles of red, emotional reminiscing (like this article) and some wonderful food in our courtyard. We spent the next 4 days in Northern England and Southern Scotland. Day 1 we took a drive through Oxford and a walk around the University (slightly bigger than Swinburne!). Then we drove through the Cotswolds: idyllic old fashioned villages scattered around the Midlands, we visited Burton on the Water and Stow on the Wold (the most famous town). All the places have these funny names and were really pretty. Then we went to Stratford upon Avon, just north of the Cotswalds to see Shakespeares house and then to get the hell out of there, because apart from that the town was a dump. Finally we made our way to Margie and Alan’s house, our relatives who live just outside of Birmingham and had a lovely dinner and catch up in an old pub nearby where you had to bend over to walk under some parts of the ceiling. Romantically impractical.

Hate to cut things short, but its 11:30pm here and I have been to bed at 6am and 4am for the last two nights (mornings) due to all night drinking binges and have to get up early for work, joy. More about our trip and other stories tomorrow - or the next day - or the next day. This should hopefully keep the vicious attackers (my sister) at bay for a couple of days at least! Sorry to people whose emails I dont respond too, you are great because you understand and you will get a response one day, promise.

Admitting you have a problem is the first step. Congratulations!
